How To Get A Site Off To A Good Start

Last week I was talking with Keith Snow from www.myfamilytable.com

We were discussing various aspects of really getting a membership site rolling along.

Typically one of the bigger issues is the "how do I jump start my forum" question.

Our conversation inspired me.

We now have many membership site owners on board Membershipsiteowner.com now. (More than 100 but less than 1,000 - for those curious :).

I know a good tactic for me in the past had been to exchange memberships with some other site owners. Doing so had many advantages:

  • Seeing what others were doing was quite inspiring

  • We encouraged each other by making the occasional forum post to get things rolling a bit

  • It was great have more sets of eyes looking things over and providing feedback

I created a new forum just for this situation.

If you visit the Membership Site Trading Post Forum you can offer other members here free or deeply discounted memberships to your site.

The rules are pretty well explained in the forum itself.

I am simply looking to create a true "win/win" situation.

Membership site owners can get some feedback and posts in their forum. People wishing to check out other membership sites can do so at free or greatly reduced rates.

Even if you only want to offer 5 or 10 free memberships etc. That's fine. What ever you are comfortable with. Once you have given enough free memberships, you can always edit the post to close the offer down.
